Wedding Facts and Information

The most important day in the life of many a woman is their wedding day, bar none. While ceremonies and customs vary greatly from one culture to another, here at wickpro.com we will focus on the weddings as we know them in the Western hemisphere. Common occidental traditions include the exchange of vows, music, photography and others that require careful planning. After all, every bride wants that day to be perfect, and therefore each little detail must be taken care of.

Wedding Planning

Weddings are often larger than life affairs, and require outside advice from someone who has skills and experience to coordinate such a massive event. That someone has come to be known as a wedding planner. The duties of a planner may include interviewing the couple and the parents to recognize their needs, devising a budget, planning detailed checklist, identifying venues, hiring wedding professionals and service providers, coordinating deliveries and services on the wedding day, coming up with a back up plan in case of an unexpected situation and assisting and preparing legal documentation. A planner may be particularly useful in the event of a destination wedding. A destination wedding is held in a city or country different from where the bride and groom and the majority of the guests reside. Since different locations may mean different procedures and requisites, it is not a bad idea to have a savvy individual handle all the corresponding paperwork and documentation.

Wedding Photography and Videography

Once again, this is a very big day that will forever be remembered, or rather will never be forgotten, especially if it is thoroughly documented and recorded for posterity with the aid of technology. This can be done by means of photography, videography, or both. There are two types of approach to photography, traditional and photojournalistic. The former makes emphasis on posing and control and interaction from the photographer. The latter takes a more spontaneous attitude inspired by editorial reporting styles. In either case, and similar to the planning responsibilities, hiring a professional will take a load off the members of the family and hopefully ensure a quality result. Some of the services that a professional photographer will provide are indoor photography at a church, temple, or other during the ceremony and reception, outdoor photography, both traditional and photojournalistic shots of the wedding couple and guests at the ceremony and the reception, formal portraiture in a studio, digital services, such as digital prints or slides shows and albums.

Videography, on the other hand, documents the ceremony on video, with the final product being called a wedding movie or film. As with photography, there are different styles, ranging from journalistic style (in the manner of a documentary with edited segments) and cinematic (captured and edited for dramatic effect and mood, as in a feature film) to storytelling (with a narration added during editing), short form (not shorter than fifteen minutes and not longer than fifty minutes) and traditional (has a family-shot quality, with little to no editing).
